The support of the city of Commerce and the Northeast Texas has made possible the Northeast Texas Children’s Museum. A group of local citizens met for eight years dreaming and planning a children’s museum for Commerce. The Northeast Texas Children’s Museum opened in 2002 and has continued to grow and expand. There has been steady growth in museum attendance since opening in 2002.
The many exhibits provide opportunities for children to have a creative and enriching learning experience. Many of the exhibits are unique to the Children’s Museum and have been developed by local volunteers. New additions to the exhibits include Monkey Ball, Redline Raceway track, and the SS Good Neighbor built by Dixie Turman and Bob Stachowiak.
