The Children’s Museum is taking applications for the following positions:

Birthday Host/Hostess

Position: Birthday Party Host/Hostess

When: Saturdays and/or Sundays

Summary of Position: Provide friendly, responsive service to create an exceptional experience for our visitors. A Birthday Party Host/Hostess’ attitude greatly effects how the Northeast Texas Children’s Museum as a whole is perceived. As Party Host/Hostess, you will oversee the smooth operation of birthday parties and play at the Museum.

Pay: $8 to $10 per hour


  • Greet and assist visitors entering the Museum
  • Assist birthday family with party set-up, including decorating
  • Manage birthday party time schedule
  • Regularly communicate with the birthday family throughout the party to ensure that everything is to their satisfaction
  • Receive payment and register operation
  • Clean up after party, including trash, sweeping and mopping
  • Monitoring and straightening of Museum exhibits during and after parties
  • Enforce Museum rules and guidelines


  • Ability to work with children

Janitorial Work

Position: Janitorial Worker

When: Tuesday-Friday

Summary of Position: Keep building in clean and orderly condition. Perform cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors and restrooms, vacuuming, washing windows and mirrors, and taking out trash. Duties may include performing routine maintenance activities, notifying management of need for repairs, and cleaning outside areas.

Pay: $8 to $9 per hour


  • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
  • Gather and empty trash.
  • Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
  • Clean windows and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
  • Dust exhibits.
  • Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
  • Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies.
  • Paint furniture and parts of exhibits.
  • Maintain outdoor areas, including weeding, water plants, and clear debris from grounds.
  • Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs.
  • Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, prepare facilities for events such as birthday parties and meetings.
